LIFE E-VIA: assessment of the low-noise road surface prototype

12 Apr , 2021 - News

In the framework of the European project LIFE E-VIA (LIFE18 ENV/IT/000201), a prototype of road surface was implemented in 2020 on the reference test track of Université Gustave Eiffel in Nantes. This road surface, available in two versions respectively without and with crumb rubber, was specifically optimized for a traffic of electric vehicles in urban area, both regarding noise emission and sustainability.

Prior to its next implementation on an urban street in Florence (Italy), this road surface undergoes over a wide range of tests to characterise its physical and acoustical properties. On 23rd and 24th of March, experiments investigated the 3D-texture and the mechanical impedance of the prototype.
