Noise exposure in Europe

30 Jun , 2020 - News

The new report by the European Environment Agency (EEA) confirms that exposure to noise has a major impact on people’s physical and mental well-being.

It has been estimated that road noise pollution impacts at least 20% of the European population living in urban areas where traffic noise levels are harmful to health.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), long-term exposure to noise pollution is associated with the risk of negative effects on people’s physiological and psychological health.

In urban areas, more than 50% of the measures taken to manage noise reduction have focused on the sources that cause it.

The focus was on sound-absorbing asphalt and both private and public electric mobility or micro-mobility represented by bicycles and scooters.
